Back in the day, when I was about 10 or 11 years old, my family and I used to take trips up to St. Ignace near the end of December. To save more money, we would stay at my parents' friend's house. While we were up there, we always went snowmobiling up on the trails. The trails were always in the woods and a quiet creek running near. Riding for hours and hours, and going for miles and miles, I loved the breaks we took. Sitting there for so long on the snowmobile was getting kinda old. |
| As I would get off it, my whole body would sink into the snow, but I was never cold. I had about 3 pairs of pants and sweaters under my snowsuit and coat, and hand warmers in my boots and gloves. About every 15 miles or so there were restaurants with bars for snowmobilers to stop at. In my opinion, they had the best food there and it was all hot since it was so cold outside. |

Every time we would switch trails to go back home, I would be anxious because we would be out for hours at a time. On the way back through the woods, sometimes I would see deer by the creek that we passed by. When we were about a mile away from where we were staying at, I would get bummed that the ride was over already, until the following night. We don't go there anymore, but I wish we would. It wouldn't be as much fun though because we sold one of our snowmobiles since then. Going up to St.Ignace anytime of the year is the greatest to me, because I love the U.P. |
